On this private half-day tour in Puerto Plata you’ll begin with pickup and a comfortable vehicle (private transfer) through the city’s key historic and cultural areas. You will explore the city’s central nucleus — including the central park and the old cathedral of San Felipe (built before 1863) — immersing yourself in the local culture and customs.

Your journey includes a stop at a chocolate factory (Del Oro or similar) where you’ll learn how cocoa goes from tree to final sweet product; you’ll get to taste the fruit, the dried seed, butter and various chocolate forms.

Next you’ll visit the Fortaleza San Felipe — a fortress from the Spanish colonial era (completed in 1577) which once defended the city.
