Our journey begins at the intersection of Avenida 23 and Calle 12, where we set off to uncover the secrets of this 19th-century necropolis. Designed by Spanish architect Calixto de Loira, the cemetery is laid out like a Roman camp with precise streets and squares. As we walk, you'll see how the grand mausoleums reflect the social classes and cultural influences that have shaped Cuba over the centuries.

We will stop at the tomb of Máximo Gómez and learn the mysterious reasons why his headstone bears no name or dates. You'll hear the touching story of "La Milagrosa," the most visited tomb in the cemetery, where locals still leave flowers today.
