Full Description
Start with a transfer from Boca Chica to the port at Caño Hondo / Sabana de la Mar. You’ll hike for around 3 hours through the humid forest of Los Haitises National Park, where you’ll learn about local medicinal plants and explore broadleaf primary and secondary forest including the spring of the Jivales River.
Then you’ll don life jackets and hop into single or double kayaks for about 2 hours paddling through mangrove swamps, bird-filled channels and scenic hills, emerging at San Lorenzo Bay for great photo-ops of forested limestone coastline. Tours & Excursions
If you prefer, there is also a shorter option: only hiking, or only kayaking (2 or 4 hours) instead of the full hike + kayak combo.
The tour finishes back at the starting point. It is recommended to go early in the morning to increase your chances of seeing manatees, crustaceans and dolphins.
