Early in the morning, you’ll begin with a hotel pickup around 07:00 AM. The drive takes you up into the mountains near Arenal Lake. First stop: the Hanging Bridges Park, where you spend roughly 2½ hours hiking over six massive suspended bridges that place you up in the tree-canopy. With help from your bilingual guide and their telescope you’ll spot jungle wildlife and take in sweeping views of the volcano and surrounding forest.
Next, you’re driven to the lava fields at the foot of the volcano. A trail winds through the black rocks deposited during the 1968 eruption and leads you to an impressive viewpoint, giving you a sense of the volcano’s size, history and the forces that shaped this land.
